Confluence – Canyonlands, UT

The best aerial shot I’ve ever gotten – and from 45GL, an OptAir SR22, in 2006.  This is the confluence of the Green River and Colorado River in the middle of Canyonlands National Park, UT.  Canyonlands Airport is a few miles NE, just west of the Arches National Park and north of Moab.  Moab is behind in this shot, which is taken down the Colorado with the Green coming in from the right.  We were about 2500 feet above the rim, and the canyon is nearly 3000 feet from rim to river – this is quite a perspective.  A great destination, and the SR22 will get there from MI comfortably in a day’s worth of flying.  We did a week in Moab.  Once you get out there there’s so much to see.  We flew to Page, AZ on this flight after taking the pictures and drove to Zion and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon from there.  DRW
